Administered by Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC)
Alliance grants fund university-led research done in partnership with organisations, including businesses. There is no application deadline for new applications. One nuance worth knowing rather than reading as a shutdown: NSERC paused intake of requests to EXTEND existing Alliance Advantage grants with additional funds as of 27 February 2025, explicitly so it can support new partnered-research applications. New applications are unaffected.
Academic researchers apply, partnered with organisations including for-profit companies; college faculty can join as co-applicants. The partner organisation contributes to the project rather than receiving the grant itself.
